Format

  • Scenario-based ethical debates in a "matches" structure
  • Teams argue opposing sides of a given case
  • Scenarios shared at least one week in advance
  • Cases randomly assigned on the day for fairness
  • Further details via an online session closer to the event

Rules

  • Open to Std. XI and Std. XII only
  • First 8 teams to register will be selected
  • Only one team per school may register
  • Registered teams receive information by 6 August 2026

Track 1: Write Now

Literature · Std. IX & X · Max 2 per school · 90 Minutes · 800–1,200 words

Rules

  • Theme / prompt provided on the day of the competition
  • Participants must write an original short story based on the prompt
  • No access to electronic devices during the competition
  • Paper provided by the host institution; bring your own writing materials
  • Entries must be written in English with appropriate content

  • Creativity and originality
  • Relevance to the prompt
  • Plot development and structure
  • Characterisation
  • Language and style
  • Grammar and accuracy
  • Impact and overall effectiveness

Track 2: Voices in Unison

Poetry · Std. IX & X · Teams of 8–15 members · 1 Team only per school · 3–5 Minutes

Format

  • Choral recitation of a poem or literary excerpt, original or published
  • Minimum of 50 lines
  • A brief introduction (max 1 minute) may precede the performance
  • Acoustic or percussion instruments permitted; no digital devices
  • Costumes allowed but must not overshadow the recitation
  • No elaborate stage sets permitted

Performance Guidelines

  • Emphasis on vocal expression, synchronisation, and ensemble performance
  • Movements and gestures may be incorporated to complement the recitation
  • Recitation must be performed in English
  • Clear diction, pronunciation, and articulation are expected
  • Content must be appropriate for a school audience

  • Interpretation and understanding of the text
  • Vocal quality and expression
  • Synchronisation and teamwork
  • Creativity and presentation
  • Stage presence and audience engagement
  • Clarity of speech and pronunciation

Track 3: Slam Poetry

Spoken Word · Std. XI & XII · Under 3 Min · No Props · Written at Venue

Performance Rules

  • Must be the original work of the participant, plagiarism leads to immediate disqualification
  • Performances must stay under 3 minutes; exceeding the 10-second grace period incurs penalties
  • No props, costumes, or musical instruments are permitted
  • Participants are strongly encouraged to memorise their pieces
  • Theme is provided after registration; poem is written at the venue without any devices, within one hour
  • Language and content must be clean and appropriate for a school event

Judging Criteria

  • Writing quality, metaphors, imagery & emotional resonance
  • Voice projection, pacing, tone variation & stage presence
  • How well the performer connects with the theme and audience
  • Profanity
  • Deductions for inappropriate language

Track 4: Into the Multi-verse (The Quiz)

Quiz · Books & Adaptations · Std. XI & XII · Teams of 2 · 4 Prelim Rounds

The Preliminary Round

  • 4 dynamic rounds to determine who advances to the grand finale
  • A written preliminary round determines the top finalist teams

The Finals

  • Highest-scoring teams from the prelims advance
  • 4 intense rounds featuring diverse question formats
  • Tests speed, accuracy, and literary depth

General Rules

  • No electronic devices, mobile phones, smartwatches, or any external aids are strictly prohibited; detection leads to immediate disqualification
  • Teams must report to the venue on time; late entries will not be permitted once a round has commenced
  • In case of any dispute regarding an answer, the Quizmaster's decision is final and binding
